A. CLOTHING - t-shirt, shorts/sweats, tennis shoes
B. Supplemental materials - water bottle, sunscreen, body spray/ deodorant
III. COURSE PHILOSOPHY
The EPISD is moving to implement a Quality Physical Education Program (QPEP) in every school in the district. A QPEP develops the health related
fitness, physical competence, and cognitive understanding about activity, and positive attitudes for all students that is aligned with the National and Texas
Standards.
IV. COURSE DESCRIPTION
A. 116.55 Individual Sports (one-half credit)
a. General Requirements - the recommended prerequisite for this course is Foundations of Personal Fitness.
1. In Physical Education, students acquire movement knowledge and skills that provide the foundation for enjoyment, continued social development
through physical activity, and access to a physically active lifestyle and understands the relationship between physical activity and health
throughout the lifespan.
2. Students in Individual Sports are expected to continue in the development of health-related fitness and the selection of individual sports activities
that are enjoyable is a major objective of this course.
B. Evaluation will be based as follows:
Suiting out 30%
Gym Activity/ Participation 40%
Exams and Projects 20%
Semester Exam 10%
100 %
A = 100 - 90 B = 89 - 80 C = 79 - 75 D = 74 - 70 F = 69 and below
V. INSTRUCTOR'S POLICIES
A. Gym Activity - you are expected to exhibit proper gym etiquette and respect all facilities and equipment. Be prepared to demonstrate proper body
mechanics throughout the activity.
B. Classwork - assignments will be posted and the deadline must be met. All assignments will be discussed in class and posted on whiteboard/ WEBPAGE under "assignments" tab.
C. Makeup Work/ Late Work - makeup work may be submitted per EPISD policy (see student handbook). Late work may be submitted per campus policy
(see student handbook "LAte Work Policy").
D. Scholastic Dishonesty - The EPISD and El Paso Community College pride themselveson its standards of academic excellence. In the classroom and all
other academic activities, students are expected to uphold the highest standards of academic integrity. Any form of scholastic
dishonesty is an affront to the pursuit of knowledge and jeopardizes the quality of education provided to all students of EPISD and
EPCC.
The following includes violation of the honor code:
1. students submitting work of others as your own.
2. use or obtaining unauthorized assistance in any academic work
3. Give unauthorized assistance to other students.
E. Electronic Devices - Cellular phones and similar devices are prohibited in the classroom, but may be used for exercise and strength training.
