III. COURSE PHILOSOPHY
The El Paso Independent School District is committed to providing a comprehensive health education program for students K-12. Every Student needs
the information and tools to achieve "health literacy".
Quality health education instruction is recognized as an integral part of the overall education of the individual. A comprehensive program approach will
foster realistic approaches to health-related attitudes, knowledge, and application skills. It will provide mental and social experiences which will improve
the quality of ones life, health and well-being.
IV. COURSE DESCRIPTION HEALTH II P800
This comprehensive health course allows students to gain a deeper understanding of the knowledge of behaviors, the use to safeguard their health,
particularly pertaining to health risks. They will use problem solving, researching, goal-setting, and communication skills to protect their health and that of
the community. This health course matches the TEKS and is recommended for the 9th and 10th grade
Evaluations will be as follows:
Exams/ Quizzes 30%
Individual Class Work, Homework and Projects 40%
Group Work, Journals/Notebook 20%
Nine Weeks Exam 10%
Total 100%
V. INSTRUCTOR POLICIES
A. Lecture - You are expected to read each assigned lesson prior to the lecture. Lectures will cover the objectives for that particular chapter and skills
will cover the objectives for that particular chapter and skill will be applied using various features.
B. Work - Assignments will be posted and the deadline must be met. All Assignments will be discussed in class and posted on whiteboard.
C. Make up work/ Late Work - makeup work may be submitted per EPISD policy (see student handbook). Late work may be submitted per campus
policy (student handbook)
D. Scholastic Dishonesty - The EPISD and El Paso Community College pride themselves on its standards of academic excellence. In the classroom and
all other academic activities, students are expected to uphold the highest standards of academic integrity. Any form of scholastic dishonesty is an
affront to the pursuit of knowledge and jeopardizes the quality of education provided to all students of EPISD and EPCC.

1. Students submitting work of others as your own.
2. Use or obtain unauthorized assistance in any academic work
3. Give unauthorized assistance to other students
